We often get asked questions by students about what it is like to work as an actor.
This is a page all about how we put our shows together, how we rehearse, and what it is like being a Globe Player. Here you can find quotes and videos featuring some of our actors, as well as some notes about the plays that might be useful for your exams.
Our shows were all put together by Mike, our writer. He spent months studying the texts in the same way you do, and reading lots of study guides and information available online. Eventually, after reading the texts many times he decided which scenes to put into our scripts, cutting lines out, but sticking as close as possible to the language of the original text. Then he decided which extra information about characters, social context and themes would be useful to you, while all the time trying to keep it under an hour – a tricky task! Eventually he got some of the team together to read his script. Every single time the script was a lot longer than we needed it to be! We all said what we thought and which bits we thought were most important, and if we could cut any bits out, or if anything really needed to be put back in.
Eventually there was a script that we all agreed. That is when the really fun bit started – we got the four actors together that were going to be the first cast of the new show, and started rehearsals.
